They must understand the use of the material handling equipment. The must know damage identification procedures and safety forklift operations techniques. They need to ensure that the relevant documentation is properly completed. They must possess the ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc. They are also responsible for basic equipment maintenance and cleanliness in the work area.

Typical Responsibilities of a material handling laborer:

• Moves, stores, and places materials as directed. Check goods received against purchase orders, sorts, counts, and checks received items. 
• Committed to performing all activities with a focus on safety, ensuring a safe work environment. 
• Safe and efficient use of material handling equipment such as forklift and pallet jack.

• Completes paperwork and computer data transactions in specified time frames and makes sure it is accurate. 
• Delivers materials to various departments and meets internal customer needs.
